How much is a taxi from Changi Airport to the city?
Short answer: Changi Airport says a metered taxi to the city takes about 30 minutes and costs S$25 to S$45. Every taxi trip from the airport adds an airport surcharge: S$8 from 5pm to 11:59pm, S$6 at other times. Midnight and peak-hour surcharges can apply on top. A pre-booked limo with us starts from S$100, fixed in advance.
Taxi surcharges at Changi
| Surcharge | When | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Changi Airport surcharge | Trips starting at the airport, 5pm to 11:59pm | S$8 |
| Changi Airport surcharge | Trips starting at the airport, all other times | S$6 |
| Midnight surcharge | 12am to 5:59am, every day | 50% of the metered fare |
| Peak-hour surcharge | Weekdays 6am to 9:29am; weekends and public holidays 10am to 1:59pm; every day 5pm to 11:59pm | 25% of the metered fare |
| City Area surcharge | Trips starting in the City Area, 5pm to before midnight | S$3 |
Flag-down, distance and waiting rates differ between taxi companies, so the meter fare varies a little by operator. ERP road tolls on the route are also added to the meter.

| Vehicle | Seats | Bags | Airport arrival |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alphard/Vellfire | 6 | 4 | S$100 |
| E-Class | 3 | 2 | S$100 |
| V-Class | 6 | 5 | S$110 |

Which is cheapest?
For one or two people with light luggage at a quiet time, a metered taxi is usually the cheapest. Late at night the 50% midnight surcharge narrows the gap. For families, larger groups or a lot of luggage, compare the cost of one large pre-booked vehicle with two taxis. Our fares are per vehicle, so six people in an Alphard pay the same as one.
Tips at the taxi stand
- Use the official taxi queue in the arrival area of your terminal.
- All taxis are metered; the airport surcharge appears on the meter and receipt.
- Most taxis accept cards; check before you get in.
- Need a child seat? Street-hail taxis are not required to carry one; pre-book a car with a seat instead (see child seats).
