What Singapore law says

Singapore’s seat belt rules say a passenger below 1.35 metres tall must be secured by an approved child restraint suited to their height and weight, or a booster with a seat belt. Street-hail taxis are exempt for rear-seat passengers, but pre-booked private hire cars are not, because the need can be stated in advance.

Tips for travelling with young children

  • Book an MPV if you need two or more child seats, a stroller and luggage.
  • Pack the stroller last so it comes out first.
  • For late-night arrivals, request the seat in advance so it is installed before you land.
  • If your child is close to 1.35 metres, a booster usually still applies; follow the seat maker’s guidance.
